The Silhouette table
My client wanted an outside table that reflected the inside of their home. They collect old furniture from all sorts of eras and use them every day. With such eclectic taste they couldn’t have an ordinary outdoor setting.
I designed this table to match their inside dining table. A nod to the traditional country kitchen table of the early 20th century, the legs are made from 3mm Corten steel, carefully welded together and braced. Result -- a light yet very robust table base. Everything was rust-proofed and then powder-coated in this vibrant metallic orange to match the Clivia flowers that bloom around the deck every winter. The Silhouette table can be topped with almost anything that suits eg stone, cement, and of course timber. In this case the top is made from reclaimed messmate timber.
